How does Internet Tutoring work?
Centerville Web Design offers several Internet Tutoring Packages. Students can pick from the following options, or we're more than happy to work with you to create a custom course:
• Build a Web site in 30 days: Meet twice a week for four weeks of Web tutoring as we conceive, design and upload your site. Learn HTML, CSS, FTP protocol, Web forms and basic search engine optimization. No software or prior knowledge required.
• Introduction to database-driven Web Sites: Design and conceive a database-driven site using open-source software and languages (MySQL and PHP). Learn the basics behind SQL tables, security and scalability. Meet twice a week for one month.
• Introduction to CSS: Learn how to tweak your site's design so that it looks precisely how you envision it. We'll meet twice a week for a month as we build two Web sites that use the same information but look entirely different.
• My Own Blog: Learn how to build a blog on your own domain from scratch. We'll cover blog installation, design, widgets and plugins, online advertising and blog promotions. Meet twice a week for a month.
Where do your students and Internet tutors meet?
Our first Web tutoring meetings always occur in public places. Preferred spots are coffee shops, bookstores or libraries -- preferably somewhere with free wi-fi internet. If you don't have a laptop, we'll provide one for you to use during the session.
Why do I need Internet tutoring?
The truth is, most Web designers learn by trial and error. It's a long and sometimes painful process. Internet tutoring dramatically shortens your learning curve, and gets students to shift their focus from technical difficulties to things like design and usability.
